Heart Day Hunt Part III

A knock sounded at the kitchen door. Devon ran to open it. A blast of cold air rushed in just ahead of two half frozen Orchid Whimbles.
Dillon and Delaney helped the twins out of their winter wraps. Soon they were in comfy armchairs by the Studio fireplace enjoying jasmine tea and cinnamon scones.
"What a blizzard!" proclaimed Rudi, his cheeks still rosy red from the winter weather. "Our wee footprints disappeared just as soon as we made them. "
"Instantly!" rejoined Sasha. "The snow fell faster and faster. It's a wonder we were able to trudge to your door!"
"We'll have to postpone Heart Day Hunt," declared Trolliver. "That's disappointing, but what a relief you arrived here safely. "
"Let's all work a puzzle. You have so many here on your shelves," suggested Rudi. "We could sit right here at the round table near the fire. "
"Perfect, Rudi. I'd love to begin with The Map of Caelumen."
"What does everyone think about that choice?" Sasha inquired.
"Good idea, you two. However, we have to at least show you a sampling of our new Heart Day Pillows," answered Dillon.
With that the Pillow Whimble reached into the cabinet for one of the largest creations and thwacked Devon over the head.
"Hey, stop it, Dillon. What's gotten into you?"
"Just testing. Want to see if the seams will hold. I think I'll test more!"
Having said that, Dillon grabbed for another pillow and this time pitched it at Delaney's head.
Soon pillows were flying everywhere. A couple exploded, scattering goose down throughout the Studio. After a few minutes it was impossible to distinguish the all-white Studio floor from the drifted snow in the meadow. Laughter filled the air. Spent, the group collapsed on chairs and sofa.
"This is certainly a Heart Day we'll always remember!" Sasha asserted.
"It sure is," her twin added. "Guess what? We'll have a sleepover. No way can Sasha and I go home in this weather! So, Devon, tell us what my sister and I can do to help the chef with dinner? Your dill and basil bread smells ever so delicious. " (to be continued from The Upper Meadows - Caelumen)
