Heart Day Hunt Part II

Delaney, Devon and Dillon gathered in front of the open hearth. A crackling fire soon warmed the three Pillow Whimbles. Outside, the early morning sun disappeared and snowflakes swirled about fiercely.

Devon passed steaming cups of hot chocolate to his brothers. "We'll have a fine breakfast before beginning work. We have much to do to complete the projects we've planned," he announced.

After washing and drying dishes, the trio went straight into their well-appointed Studio. A polished round table was neatly laid with sketch pads, colored pencils, watercolors, three sewing machines, scissors, and needles. Velvet and silk fabric hung on built-in dowels. Baskets of snippets sat primly on the window sill.

Choosing their materials, the three set about pinning patterns to fabric. Then the fabric was carefully cut into various sizes of heart-shaped pillows. These were sewn, filled with goose down, and embellished with tassels, lace, beads, ribbon, and buttons.

As the Whimbles worked, their Companion, Trolliver the Lamb admired the fanciful creations.

"Oh my," he began. "That rose silk heart looks ever so splendid with the multicolored ribbons you have added, Delaney."

"And, just look at the garnet velvet pleating, Devon. How extraordinarily elegant!"

"Now then, Dillon, as usual your wee felt hearts are perfect. How is it that you can do such tiny stitches?"

While all three brothers blushed at the praise, Trolliver continued. "Time to finish up these marvels for Day of Hearts. We must be ready to receive the Orchid twins. They will be here any moment, that is, if they have braved this winter storm."
